Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Leanna Tallmeister grew up in the theatre performing with several Canadian theatre and ballet companies. She began studying ballet at the age of three, and continued until university. A graduate of the Arts York Drama program at Unionville High School, Leanna also spent a year in New York City studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and with acting coach Susan Batson at Black Nexxus. Leanna was also a student at The Second City in Toronto.
In Canadian theatre, Leanna played a wide variety of roles including Alice from “A Christmas Carol” and Bridget from “Bridget Jones’s Diary”- a role for which she received the “In Celebration of the Arts” Award, a Canadian performing arts scholarship award, in the Dramatic Arts category. After obtaining her Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and film from McMaster University, she moved to Los Angeles to study producing at UCLA, and to pursue a career in film and television.
In Los Angeles, Leanna studied improv at the Groundlings Theatre and at UCLA. Leanna’s screen credits include “Pathological”, "The App", "Monster and Me", “Grey’s Anatomy”, and “Glee”.
Off screen, Leanna has served as a public speaker in Canada for nearly ten years, as a bullying awareness and positive conflict resolution ambassador for CAYRE’s Put the Brakes on Bullying campaign. She is the author and illustrator of children's book "Caterina's Reward", designed as a learning tool for younger students to promote kindness and anti-bullying.
Leanna is currently based in Los Angeles.
